I'm I There Yet...Yes...Time to Celebrate

Celebrate Good Times... Come On...
My Learning 2.0 experience was fun but very time consuming. This project has allowed me to enhance my technical skills. I discovered tons of new useful databases and websites. If another discovery program like this is offer in the future, I would probably participate depending on the reward! (Just Kidding) I'm glad I made it to the end...with lots of procrastination..help from my coworkers (Thank You)...It's finally OVER! The websites I liked the most were YouTube, Craigslist and Wikipedia, I plan on using these sites often. Can I have my MP3 player...Please!!!
(3 Cheers for Learning 2.0, Hip-Hip-Hurray)

Audiobooks

Downloadable eAudiobooks are great! Now you don't have to wait for a requested item, just setup a Netlibrary account and download the audiobook. The downloading process can be a little lengthy but it is worth the wait. That MP3 player is going to can in handle. (NetLibrary here I come!)

Podcasts, Smodcasts

I used the Yahoo Podcasts on the podcast directory. There are tons of podcasts to listen to, I listened to a few on the highly rated page. My favorite podcasts were Radio Disney and Meditation-Silence. I don't think I would use this with a patron because it's a little confusing whentrying to add the RSS Feeds to a Bloglines account. (Not user-friendly)

YouTube

YouTube is CRAZY, there are some stranger people out there! The site is interesting, you could find a video on anything, from the lastest dance craze (Chicken Noodle Soup) to needlepoint. Youtube is used alot at my branch from teens to adults, everyone loves it. I could spend a whole day exploring YouTube...it's better than TV.

Discovering Web 2.0

The Web 2.0 tool I explored was Craigslist, this site is Fab.u.lous! The search cateorgies are cool, I like the for sale and resume sections. You can go to one place to shop and find employment, this is a great patron tool. You can even search different states. (Wow!!) I'm going use Craigslist everyday for the rest of life.

Zoho Writer

Setting up a Zoho Writer was pretty simple. The web-based application is extremely helpful and useful. I plan on using Zoho in the near future. It is a GREAT way to create, edit, and move documents from computer to another. Awesome!!!

Playing around with PBWiki

This discovery exercise was FUN! After several attempts I finally posted my blog correctly. What a great way to keep up with your favorite things such as: vacation spots , restaurants, movies, and music. There's so MUCH to EXPLORE!

So what's in a wiki?

I love wikis, I use Wikipedia all the time. I even direct patrons to this site often to get research information. Wikis are straight-forward and very user-friendly. It's a great way to share and collaborate with libraries all over the WORLD. (Go wiki, it's ya birthday, Go wiki)

On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0

The first perspective I reviewed was Away from the "Icebergs" by Rick Anderson, he talked about how his library's circulation percentage drop by 55% due to the fact that patrons are no longer checking out materials. They are going straight to the new computer technologies or databases. I feel that some of Mr. Anderson's statement is true, but what do we do about the patron who have a fear of computers and technologies? More training would be helpful, but everybody is not a lifelong learner. The second perspective I reviewed was Into a New World of Librarianship by Michael Stephens, he talked about the same issues as Rick Anderson. He also believes libraries should move away from traditional services and go with technology. Again, I say what about our computer illiterate patrons?

Getting not-so-technical with Technorati

The Technorati site is cool! This is great for people who are looking for blog searches, there are tons of blog posts. I think I will direct patron have when they are loooking for current issues or topics. (Go, Blogsphere, Go)

Del.icio.us

Here's another site I don't really understand. The bookmarking function may be helpful in the future but as of now I see no need for it. I think it would be just as easy to search google or yahoo and get a majority of the same hits.

Rollyo

This is similar to the bloglines from the previous exercise. I don't see using this as a reference tool. It's kind of confusing...still not sure if I completed the exercise correctly. I TRIED!!!

LibraryThing

I really enjoyed this site. I was able to track all of my favorite books and CDs. What a great way to keep up with what you read and what you would like to read!http://www.librarything.com/addbooks.php?welcome=1

Image Generator

The image generator was neat, there are tons of images. Uploading the image was al little confusing but I finally figured it out. Learning 2.0 Rocks!

Finding Feeds

Finding the library webblogs was pretty easy, I used Google to locate the Library Stuff blog. I had some interesting articles. It is a great forum to keep up with current and professional development and issues.

RSS Feeds and a Newsreader

This was my first time using the RSS Feeds, it was a neat experience. I'm a shopaholic so added the fashion RSS feeds about the hottest trends and bargains was FUN!!! Let's go shopping...

New Technology

This week I learned how to download pictures to my thumbdrive. It is quite similar to downloading on a floppy disc, but there is more space available. I'm going to use my thumbdrive more often, as Martha Stewart would say: (It' A Good Thing).

More Flickr Fun

The 3rd Party website I viewed was Google images. I use this site often and it is a very user-friendly database. I usually recommend this to partons for easy access to pictures.

Flickr

Flickr is a cool and intresting web site. Look at my beautiful Teen Summer Reading bulletin board displayed at the Beatties Ford Road Library. What so you think? (Colorful, Huh?)

7 and 1/2 lifelong learning habits

The lifelong learning habits were extremely helpful. I really liked number 7 (Have Fun!!) Learning 2.0 here I come!!!
